“A musical idea, a composer, writer, a world and a space for imagination and dreams”

Joseph de la Hoyde is an Australian Artist – a Composer, Producer & Writer whose work is singular and provocative, drawing on a vast array of personal influences including his deep fascination with the capacities of the mind and the symbiosis of man and machine.

Having graduated with honours in academic excellence and the arts in 2009, Joseph begun to pursue a career in commercial music and film composition, becoming an internationally recognised performer and producer through his work with Alternative Rock band Monks of Mellonwah and brother singer/songwriter/rapper Nick de la Hoyde. He combines a profound film music sensibility with an alternative pop edge, drawing on influences as far as Hans Zimmer to Nine Inch Nails and Massive Attack, to modern producers such as Malay and 40. As a film composer, Joseph has composed music for Channel 9 documentaries Road To Peace and Life Challenge: Kokoda, alongside various short films, trailers and TVCs for brands including Wahu, Finish and Toyota. At 24, Joseph heralds a wealth of youth experience, having performed his works on international stages as well as seen his work aired on television and in theatres across Australia.

Under new moniker Zuzu, a name that derives from his Syrian/British upbringing, Joseph continues to work extensively alongside brother Nick de la Hoyde on his next sophomore release. Previous singles‘Changing’ and ‘Never Gonna Beg For It’ made considerable inroads on radio with adds to2DayFM/Southern Cross Radio’s Hit30 show, Nova’s ‘Smallzey’s Surgery’, as well as enjoying chart success on the Shazam Future Hit’s chart and the Billboard Top 40 Indicator Chart in the USA.

As a writer, Joseph is working on subversive poetry series called ‘A Body of Desire’, through which he hopes to explore the frailties of human mental and emotional progression, and thus denote the unraveling of the human individual psyche. Joseph’s intense interest in the science fiction genre and multi-media art has also led to ongoing work on progressive fiction novel ‘Cloud Control’. The story features a feature length musical score and upon completion is set for release as an interactive eBook experience.

‘As Life Challenge founder I am really proud of our first film, Life Challenge Kokoda, and there is no doubt that Joe’s original compositions capture the essence and emotion of the pilgrimage that we experienced beautifully. He is an amazing talent needing very little guidance and direction and always delivers on time. We will offer Joe the opportunity to compose the original score for all our films going forward.’ – James Wallace (CEO & Founder Life Challenge)
